Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the accounting treatment of construction revenue and costs applied by PT. Sederhana Karya, and to evaluate its compliance with Financial Accounting Standards (PSAK) Number 115. This research is based on the recognition that revenue in the construction industry requires accounting treatment in accordance with PSAK No. 115. PT. Sederhana Karya Jaya currently uses two methods: the percentage of completion method and the completed contract method. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the conformity of these practices with the provisions of PSAK No. 115. The descriptive qualitative method was used. Qualitative analysis is used for data analysis, with data collection methods including interviews, observation, and documentation. The analysis process involves collecting primary and secondary data and drawing conclusions based on the findings. The main findings of this study indicate that PT. Sederhana Karya Jaya employs a dual accounting policy to recognize revenue. The company uses the percentage of completion method for significant long-term projects and the completed contract method for short-term projects. Though the terminology is a legacy of previous standards, these practices are consistent with the core principles of PSAK No. 115: recognizing revenue over time and at a point in time. The results of this study indicate that PT. Sederhana Karya Jaya's accounting treatment of revenue substantially aligns with PSAK No. 115. However, to improve clarity for external parties, the company should explicitly ensure consistency with PSAK No. 115 using accounting policy terminology. The company should also communicate the impact of profit volatility arising from the Completed Contract Method to stakeholders.
