Abstract

Bad debts are one of the challenges that can disrupt the stability of cash flow and financial performance of the company. Therefore, good control is needed so that receivables can be managed optimally. The purpose of this study is to analyze the control of bad debts at PDAM Wanua Wenang Manado. Bad debts are one of the challenges that can disrupt the stability of cash flow and financial performance of the company. Therefore, good control is needed so that receivables can be managed optimally. The purpose of this study is to analyze the control of bad debts at PDAM Wanua Wenang Manado. The results of the study indicate that the analysis of the receivables turnover ratio at PDAM has been running well. The results of the analysis of the average age of receivables reflect that the company is able to collect its receivables well. The analysis of the arrears ratio shows that the company has succeeded in reducing the number of receivables that are due. The analysis of the collection ratio has shown that the company is good in terms of collection. From the results of this study, it can be explained that the analysis of the receivables turnover ratio in 2023 was 18.06 times and decreased slightly in 2024 to 15.57 times. The analysis of the average age of receivables in 2023 was 20.21 days and increased to 23.43 days in 2024. The analysis of the arrears ratio in 2023 was recorded at 5.85% and improved in 2024 to 5.69%. The collection ratio analysis in 2023 was at 94.14% and increased to 94.31% in 2024. To strengthen the billing system, it is recommended to adopt digital-based technology such as an automatic bill notification system via SMS, email, or digital payment applications. The function of the internal supervisory unit must be increased in its role in monitoring the receivables recording process.
