Abstract

This study aims to design and test a water temperature control system based on the Omron CP1H Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) equipped with an XH-W3001 Digital Thermostat sensor and actuators in the form of an electric heater and solenoid valve. This system is designed to regulate the water heating process automatically and efficiently on a laboratory scale and small industries. The research method is carried out experimentally, starting from hardware design (trainer table stand, installation pipes, control system) to ladder diagram programming using CX-Programmer software. The test results show that the system is able to maintain the water temperature close to the setpoint of 40°C with small deviations. The system works in two modes: automatic and semi-automatic, and can activate the heater and open the drain valve according to the logic of temperature and water level. Compared to conventional systems without PLC, this system is more flexible and modular. This study shows that the PLC-based system can be relied upon as a learning medium and a prototype for water temperature control automation.
