The Role of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia Sam Ratulangi International Airport Branch in Manado in Supporting the Growth of the Economic Sector in Manado City

Regional economic growth is strongly influenced by transportation infrastructure, particularly airports as gateways for the mobility of people, goods, and services. Manado City, as the center of tourism and trade in North Sulawesi, relies heavily on Sam Ratulangi International Airport managed by PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the role of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia in supporting Manado’s economic growth through tourism development and the empowerment of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The research used a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach, supported by role theory and economic growth theory. Data were obtained through interviews with airport officials, MSME actors, tourists, and official documents. The results show that the airport plays a crucial role in enhancing flight connectivity, increasing tourist arrivals, and providing promotional space for local MSME products. In conclusion, PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia functions not only as an airport operator but also as a catalyst for the economic growth of Manado City.
